Chalkidiki in Greece

Chalkidiki is a nice peninsula in Macedonia and extends with its three headlands (also called "Poseidon's Trident") directly into the Aegean Sea. Visit the cradle of Greek art and philosophy - here you will find the bisthplace of the famous Aristotle.
 
In the north, the region is bordered by the Holomondas Mountains, the mostly dry hinterland consists of mixed forest, hilly areas and the lowland, which is mainly used for agriculture. It is near that large parts of Chalkidiki are valued as hiking areas - on an individual basis, or with guided multi-day tours.
In addition to the ancient castles Rentina and Neposi, here are also several natural reserves in the name of the UNESCO World Heritage too.
The best known products are olive oil, honey and cotton products.

In general, tourism plays an important role in the Chalkidiki region and in the nearby city of Thessaloniki:
More than 500 kilometers of coast, turquoise waters and white sandy beaches provide the best conditions for a relaxing and eventful holiday. The protected beaches are awarded the European Blue Flag and especially the north coast with its steep, sometimes rugged rocks is beautiful place to be.

The many beach resorts offer a large number of beachfront campsites, apartments and hotels. Here you can practice water skiing, jet skiing, paragliding or other outdoor activities to your heart's content. Relax on the beach, or visit the stalactite caves and small country villages in the nearby inland of the peninsula.
If you want to go shopping, or prefer action in tnight clubs,  you will find a divers multicultural life in the nearby city Thessaloniki. However, the almost 100,000 students who live in the city have a very westernized food culture with much fast food.
Traditional Greek cuisine is more likely to be found in the surrounding small towns and villages.
Incidentally, themost eastern of the three headlands, is reserved for only a few male visitors: In the monk republic Athos there is no acess for women until today.
Two main roads lead from Thessaloniki to the southwestern Chalkidiki. The only significant train connection starts from Thessaloniki too..

 
Agios Mamas

Fourka's beaches at the Aegean Sea are charming with wide, bright sandy beach and clean, pleasantly warm water in summer. Mediterranean and international.

Kallithea

Kallithea is located on the peninsula of Kassandra, Chalkidiki.

Nea Potidea

Nea Potidea in Chalkidiki offers an interesting mixture of rest and relaxation, nature and entertainment, as well as various sports and bathing facilities.

Neos Marmaras

Neos Marmaras is a popular holiday destination in Chalkidi. There is a family flair and visitors are met with Greek hospitality.
 

Ouranoupoli

Ouranoupoli is good for bathing and excursion and is located on the Greek peninsula Halkidiki and forms the border to the monastic republic of Athos.

Pefkochori
