Regional district Kozani
The regional capital - Kozani - has been dominated by trade for more than two hundred years and had to survive a major earthquake in 1995. In the University city of Kozani three interesting museums, historic buildings, but also the well-stocked library, stand or education and culture.
The regional district Kozani is the largest in the Greek West Macedonia and includes the four counties Eordea, Kozani, Servia-Velvendo and Voio. The majority of the landscape is dominated by mountains and the temperature differences between the hot summers and the cold winters are signally.
Agriculturally Kozani is known for its wine growing and very much in demand as an important supplier of the particularly expensive red saffron spice.
Definitely worth seeing in the region are the 1372 meter high bridge in Servia, as well as the hidden miniature Grand Canyon in the Potamia Gorge.
