Argostoli, Greece

Argostoli has approximately 13,000 inhabitants and is located on a headland in the southwest of the island of Kefalonia. The island's capital was largely destroyed in an earthquake in 1953. One of the landmarks is the lighthouse Agios Theodoros - which was rebuilt in its original classicist style after the earthquake.

The town of Argostoli, which was chosen by pirates as a base in history, has developed  into a location popular with wealthy Greeks.

The promenade Lithostroto offers a relaxing pedestrian area with cafes, restaurants and other shops and of course souvenir shops. The watch tower is also worth seeing.
There is a philharmonic hall, a library, museums, theaters and numerous open air events in summer.
The turtles on the waterfront promenade find corals and seagrass on the stony shore of the beach and are interesting for nature lovers.
Archaeologists currently use archaeological sites in the area around Argostoli.

From Argostoli to Kefalonia Airport, it is only a few kilometers.
